The Prisoner of Azkaban is the third book of the series “Harry Potter” by J. K. Rowling. It’s another installment of this amazing series.
Summers have always been the worst for Harry. This summer wasn’t that different either.
This year Harry has to do his homework in secret. What a struggle!
That has to be the worst struggle for someone.
Anyway. Dudley’s aunt comes to visit this summer. That woman is awful!
She keeps insulting Harry’s parents, until Harry snaps and blows her up.
Yes! Literally blows her up like a balloon.
After that Harry chooses to storm out of the house like a cyclone. Gutsy!
In the midst of all this, a well-known criminal has escaped from the prison of Azkaban. Sirius Black. A mad man. he ran away from the prison for wizards and witches and now even the muggles are looking for him.
And thus, Harry is out of his house, Sirius Black is running free and the summer vacation still isn’t over! It’s a tedious business!
As Harry was sitting outside on the sidewalk, wondering where he should go now, a bus appears in front of him.
The bus is super-fast and almost crashes into Harry. The conductor calls onto Harry and asks him to get on.
This was the first time Harry gets to ride the Knight Bus. It was a thrilling experience for Harry.
The bus takes him to the Ministry of Magic much to Harry’s surprise.
As it turns out the Ministry is trying to protect Harry because a criminal is out running free.
Anyhow, the time is pretty ordinary. As ordinary Harry’s life is.
And like every year, they end up boarding the train to Hogwarts.
There’s an unknown man in their compartment as well. Remus Lupin is what his identity is. Who’s he? He’s the new defense against dark arts teacher at Hogwarts.
Something happens in the middle of their journey this time. The train is abruptly stopped by something. Frost covers the windows and a shadowy figure enters the cabin.
Dementors, the guard of Azkaban, are looking for Sirius Black on the train. As they enter the cabin where Harry and his friends are, Harry has a freefalling feeling and the memories of his mother’s death surfaces.
This is basically where the main plot of the story begins. The Dementors surround the whole school.
Fred and George discovers the Marauder’s Map, along with the pass to activate it. They have this brilliant idea to hand it over to Harry.
Harry, using it comes to know about Peter Pettigrew.
This marauder’s map is what helps them find out the real traitor and clear up Sirius Black’s name.
As I was reading this book I could feel the fear of standing in front of a dementor.
At the same time, I made a strong connection with Sirius Black and Remus Lupin.
The emotional ride of Harry trying to make a patronus.
The journey was quite thrilling. A perfect combination of fear, joy, fun and sorrow.
The ending was really touching. With Harry and his godfather reuniting at last.
Finally, another year passes by at Hogwarts. Another “normal” year passes by filled with adventure and mystery.
I really enjoyed it. It’s unique story-telling captured my attention pretty early into the story.
