The Mark of Athena is the third book of the series “Heroes of Olympus”. This book is where things begin to go crazy!
The Adventure Begins
Let’s get one thing out of the way frist.
Percy and Annabeth is back together!
Now into the main plot. The book focuses more on Annabeth than other characters.
The name of the book is the prove of that. This is about the mark of Athena.
And as the daughter of Athena, Annabeth is in the spotlight.
The book begins with Percy and Annabeth reuniting and then Roman camp getting attacked by the Greek ship.
Yes. Thanks Leo.
But Leo isn’t the one at fault. Not really.
So Percy, Annabeth and their friends more or less have to escape from The Roman camp.
This book is also the first one where we see all the seven protagonist together.
Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Leo, Hazel and Frank.
So naturally this Adventure is Peak!.
Percy and Annabeth has a lot to catchup. Piper is a little insecure about her relationship with Jason.
We get to know about the connection Hazel and Leo shares. And Frank hates it.
I Almost Cried
At first, while I was reading it, I was confused what Annabeth was trying to find.
After reading it for a while, I figured it’s the Athena Parthenos.
So basically, the Roman’s stole that statue from the Greeks and now Athena is bitter.
Weird mother.
I loved the adventure in this book.
Percy and Jason bonds on a deeper level. The bromance was Awesome.
Percy and Jason also get a fight scene along with their horses.
That was also super cool.
Annabeth has to move alone to find the lost statue.
The twist was really badass. I loved that twist.
I also loved that Annabeth didn’t lose her witty edge. She keeps proving why she’s the daughter of the Goddess of Wisdom again and again.
But the ending of this book.
Oh the ending was so heartbreaking and romantic.
I had no idea if I should swoon or cry. It was that good.,
But the Cliffhanger was intense….
By the end of the book, we actually get attached to all the characters pretty well. Along with that, we also get to see how deep Percy and Annabeth’s emotions run.
Overall this book was great. This is where the main story starts to make more sense. And takes a turn for the better.
