The Hammer of Thor is the second installment of the Magnus Chase series. This is the book where we find out how useless and lazy Thor is.
It’s Hammer Time
Firstly, Thor lost his Hammer.
Now he can’t watch his Tv shows properly.
This book also has this new character Alex Feirro. He/ She’s another kid of Loki. He/She is gender fluid. Thus the double pronouns.
Now back to the main story. Thor’s hammer
It needs to be found. Because without it, giants are trying to attack the human world.
This means another journey and adventure for Magnus and his crew.
They also meet another Loki. A giant Loki. Udgard Loki.
He’s a cool giant and an awesome character.
We get an in-depth look at hearthstone’s life back at his home. HIs trauma and his father’s neglectance.
We also meet Heimdall. The guy that guards the Bifrost bridge of Asgard.
On another hand, Loki is trying to get Samirah to marry Thrym, another giant?
But thing don’t go according to plan for Loki and the brides change.
Thor somehow manages to salvage his hammer.
But, Loki is out of his binds. Yes, he’s free.
And now thing will go south faster than anyone could think.
I love Loki!
This book is a work of art. For people like me, who loves the villains, this book is the perfect mix of quirky but evil villains and myths.
I have a few favorite segments in this book.
Firstly, when Alex is first introduced. It was awesome seeing a gender fluid person in a fiction.
Many authors tend to avoid working with these stuff. But I loved that Rick Riordan decided to include it in his book.
Secondly, there was this bond between Samirah and her fiancé Amir that I really loved. This bond of trust and inter dependency was really perfect to read about.
Thirdly, the part when Loki is free of his binds were my favorite.
I’m a huge Marvel fan and one of my favorite Marvel Universe Movie is Thor. And my favorite character has never been Thor. It’s always Loki. So when I read that the main villain in this book is Loki ad he still has his evil quirky awesome personality, I couldn’t resist making him my favorite again.
In the end, this book was super awesome and a fun read. For me, who’s obsessed with mythical stories, it’s the perfect mix of myths and adventure. We also get to see the talents and lot of development from the side characters.
It was just Perfect!
